Seoul Yongsan-gu is operating various programs at ‘Yongsan Youth Ji-eum’ to support the growth of young people. In March, ‘Youth Economy ETF Financial Education’ is conducted, and from April, a second session of the virtual company ‘Knit Company Yongsan Branch’ for unemployed youth will be proceeded.

Yongsan Youth Ji-eum (Seobinggo-ro 17, public facilities building, 3rd floor) is a representative youth community space in Yongsan-gu, providing tailored content to assist young people in inner growth and social connection.

On March 18th and 25th, in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Youth Center, ‘Youth Economy ETF Financial Education’ will be conducted. ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) are noted for their relatively stable investment method, and through this education, it provides an opportunity for young people to gain basic investment knowledge and to establish an economic foundation. The education is conducted in collaboration with Hana Securities’ overseas business office, recruiting 20 people per session. Applications are open until noon on March 17th through the Youth Ji-eum blog.

From April 23rd to July 12th, the second session of ‘Knit Company Yongsan Branch’ will be operated. Knit Company is a virtual company for unemployed youth who do not receive education or job training, offering job experience and helping to build a sense of belonging and solidarity. The first session last year resulted in five youths successfully securing employment.

Participants commute online daily for 12 weeks to recover daily rhythm and are required to come to Yongsan Youth Ji-eum once a week. They will engage in various activities such as performing common tasks, operating an in-house club, and touring Yongsan. Through career lectures from professional instructors and first session seniors and sharing workshops, they can gain practical job experience. At the end of the program, a closing ceremony will be held to showcase the results of their activities.

Park Hee-young, head of Yongsan-gu Office, said, “Yongsan Youth Ji-eum is running diverse programs to help young people regain vigor and accumulate substantial experience,” and “We will continue to discover sustainable policies in collaboration with various institutions so that young people can enjoy a happy life.”
