The Yongsan-gu Council’s Welfare and Urban Committee visited the recycling sorting facility located in Wonhyo-ro 4-ga, Yongsan-gu on March 19 to inspect the current status of facility operations.

This visit was prepared in relation to the agenda of the 296th temporary meeting of the Welfare and Urban Committee, with the purpose of directly verifying the operational conditions and deriving improvement measures through on-site inspections.

Chairman Kim Song-hwan, Vice Chairman Kim Hyung-won, and members Jang Jeong-ho, Baek Joon-seok, and Lee Mi-jae participated in the inspection. They listened to explanations about the facility operations from the relevant department of the district office and toured the entire facility. They also participated in a session to gather opinions from the facility staff.

Chairman Kim emphasized, “Recycling sorting facilities have high-risk work environments for major accidents, so regular safety education and thorough facility inspections are necessary to prevent safety accidents.”

He also suggested to the relevant department, “The manual sorting process should be automated and mechanized to improve work efficiency and reduce the waste of human resources. In the long term, we should design a profit-generating business using recyclables to offset processing costs.”
