Seoul’s Yongsan District is expanding its educational infrastructure to nurture global talents.

The district recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Lotte Construction to establish the ‘Yongsan Global Education Support Center.’ Through this agreement, both parties have agreed on their roles and cost-sharing plans for the center’s creation and operation.

The center will be located on the third floor of the Youth Housing Complex near a subway station at 98-6 Galwol-dong. It spans a total floor area of 316 square meters and is set to open in October, with preparations already in full swing.

Lotte Construction will be responsible for the construction and installation costs of the center. Meanwhile, Yongsan District plans to operate the educational programs through a private consignment method to offer tailor-made education services to local residents.

The educational content will be divided into four main areas: college entrance support, Y-Leaders’ development, Yongsan-type global talent cultivation, and customized education for parents. Key programs will include literacy enhancement, character education, academic stress management, and global leadership training.

Classes utilizing AI and ChatGPT will also be introduced as a measure to meet the learning demands of students who are accustomed to a digital environment.
