The Yeongdeungpo-gu district, in collaboration with a drone professional educational institution, will offer free courses for residents to obtain drone certification and practical maintenance skills.

Drones are gaining attention as a key technology in the fourth industrial revolution, being utilized across various sectors such as disaster response, defense, logistics, and agriculture. However, there is a shortage of skilled professionals despite the rapidly expanding market.

In response, the district signed a business agreement with the state-designated drone education institution, Gunzip Tech, on March 24. This initiative aims to enhance the employment competitiveness of residents by providing certification and practical, work-centered drone education.

The course, titled “Class 3 Drone Certification Acquisition and Practical Maintenance Course,” will run from April 21 to June 23. It will be divided into five groups, covering certification acquisition as well as field-oriented skills like aerial photography and drone maintenance. A total of 25 participants will be enrolled, and the course fee is completely free. Applications will be accepted from April 14 to 17 through the news bulletin on the Yeongdeungpo-gu website.

Even after completion, Gunzip Tech will offer discounted drone-related courses for residents. The district plans to establish a linkage system with relevant companies and organizations to support actual employment for those who complete the course. Experience-based special lectures for elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as the general public, are also being prepared.

Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor Choi Ho-kwon stated, “This will serve as a valuable platform for residents to grow as core personnel leading the future industry,” adding, “We will actively support them in finding competitive jobs through effective education.”
