Seoul’s Yangcheon District is actively promoting a tailored employment support program for middle-aged and career-interrupted women.
On the 11th, the district announced its goal of becoming a “city where everyone can work,” strengthening job training and employment connections for the middle-aged and women. The training for the middle-aged consists of five courses, while there are also five courses tailored for women.

The ’employment connection program’ for the middle-aged is offered for free through vocational training institutions with which the district has agreements. The target groups include forklift operators, electrical engineers, hospital coordinators, online shopping mall managers, and HVAC maintenance technicians.
The ‘forklift license course’ includes theoretical and practical training for acquiring a license for construction machinery under 3 tons, recruiting 40 people and conducted in two sessions. The ‘electrical engineer course’ is scheduled from May to July and focuses on practical skills, currently recruiting 10 students.
The hospital coordinator course includes special lectures on practical skills in the nursing and health fields, targeting 20 people from June. The ‘online power seller course’ supports online shopping mall startups through individual entrepreneurship consulting.
The ’employment support program for career-interrupted women’ consists of five courses, including insurance administration, AI fairy tale book creation, digital drawing, software testing, and tax practice. The courses are designed to facilitate the acquisition of practical qualifications and support job placement and entrepreneurship.
The ‘insurance administrative staff course’ develops skills for insurance contract tasks using computer programs, planned for May to July, and aims to recruit 15 women residing in the district. The ‘AI fairy tale book creation course’ focuses on image and story creation and publication platform education, scheduled for May to June.
The courses related to ‘digital drawing,’ ‘software testing,’ and ‘tax practice’ are set to run from August to October. Last year, the district assisted 59 women in securing employment through these programs.
The district plans to strengthen its connection system with partner institutions to ensure graduates can achieve actual employment.
Lee Ki-jae, the mayor of Yangcheon District, stated, “We hope this employment support program will become a stepping stone for the re-launch of middle-aged and career-interrupted women,” adding, “We will continue to actively discover and operate various support programs that can enhance practical employment capabilities.”
