On September 10, a demonstration class will be held at Itaewon Elementary School to commemorate the visit of ‘Visiting Correct Korean Language Teacher’.

This year’s program will be held in approximately 100 elementary and middle schools nationwide, including 21 in Seoul, 29 in Gyeonggi, 6 in Incheon, 4 in Gangwon, 6 in Gyeongnam, 3 in Gwangju, 4 in Daegu, 2 in Daejeon, 4 in Busan, 2 in Ulsan, 6 in Jeonbuk, 6 in Jeju, 4 in Chungnam, and 3 in Chungbuk.

‘Visiting Correct Korean Language Teacher’ is an educational initiative where active announcers help students cultivate proper language habits alongside them. Since its inception in 2011, approximately 550,000 students from 2,600 elementary and middle schools have participated.

This year’s classes focus on the theme, ‘How about becoming rich in words?’, tackling declining literacy and fragmented speech among young people. Students will explore everyday language issues through various examples, engaging in real conversations to develop ‘speaking power’, ‘listening power’, and ‘reading and expressing power’.

This education program runs from August 25 at Sinbanghak Middle School in Seoul to November 19 at Mulmae Elementary School in Jeju. In September, sessions integrated with KBS Symphony Orchestra’s ‘Visiting Concerts’ will also be available, allowing students to experience the beauty of Korean language through music.

In addition to this initiative, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism conducts various language culture improvement projects, including ‘Easy and Correct Korean Class’ for high school students and ‘Supporting Korean Language Guardian Activities’ for college students.

Lee Jung-mi, Cultural Policy Officer at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, “We hope that Korean language education for young people will provide an opportunity to experience the value of language and communication beyond mere knowledge transmission,” adding, “We will continue to expand Korean language education for young people.”
