The ‘Yadanbeopseok’ event, a connected event of the ‘2025 Seoul International Buddhism Expo’ under the theme ‘Find Your Enlightenment! (with Eightfold Path) Buddhism Adventure @ COEX,’ will be held from April 2 to 6 in a special outdoor booth in front of the Bongunsa banquet hall.
‘Yadanbeopseok’ is an event to experience traditional Buddhist culture, Korean traditional arts, and food culture, planned and operated by Mind Design. In the traditional culture experience zone, various experiences interpreting tradition in modern ways are prepared, including ‘Finding Five Elements-Based Aroma Oil,’ where participants can find scents suitable for their constitution based on the five elements theory and create their own oils, along with traditional tea ceremonies, pattern dyeing, and folk games.
In the Buddhist culture experience zone, participants can modernly experience Buddhist practice and meditation. Citizens can easily access Buddhist philosophy in their daily lives through lotus lantern making and meditation time with monks. Meditation programs and Buddhist culture content targeting the MZ generation are expected to see high participation.
In the traditional food experience zone, citizens can directly experience traditional food culture. Participants can engage in various food-making programs such as making nutritional rice, bellflower syrup, pumpkin sikhye, and handmade rice cakes, learning the culture and stories behind the food. Activities suitable for family visitors are also available.
This event will see participation from 19 temples and related organizations, including Just Be Hongdae Sunwon, Dongguk University’s Self and Meditation, Sunmudo, and Haedamun Psychological Counseling Center. All experience programs are available continuously from morning to afternoon, allowing participation on-site without separate admission fees.
The organizing office explained that the event is designed with multi-layered programs encompassing both the older generation and the youth as an open space to access Buddhism and Korean traditional culture. Mind Design stated, “We hope this event will be an experience space to enjoy with family and friends.”
