The Korea Forest Service is conducting a “Public Suggestion Contest for Institutional Improvement in the Field of Mountain Management” to alleviate public inconvenience and improve institutions. The contest submission period is from March 10 to April 9, and anyone can participate.

This contest focuses on institutional improvement matters concerning the △Mountain Management Act △Demilitarized Zone Mountain Act △Stone Industry Act, among others. The Korea Forest Service will assess the proposals based on specificity, feasibility, effectiveness, creativity, and sustainability. They plan to award one grand prize, two outstanding prizes, five encouragement prizes, and recognize one team for excellence in the group sector, with certificates and prizes.
To participate, citizens must fill out a proposal application form and submit it via email (kay1108@korea.kr) by 6 PM on April 9. The results of the judging will be announced at the end of May. Proposal applications and detailed contest schedules can be found on the Korea Forest Service website (www.forest.go.kr).
Song Joon-ho, Director of the Korea Forest Service’s Forest Welfare Bureau, stated, “We plan to actively incorporate the valuable opinions of the public to establish practical forestry policies for both foresters and citizens.” He also emphasized, “We look forward to a lot of interest and participation to achieve regulatory innovations that citizens can truly feel.”
This contest is an important opportunity to reflect public opinions in policy-making, and it is expected to gather creative ideas for improving mountain management systems.
