The Gallery Hosu, a public art museum opened by Songpa-gu last November, will extend its opening exhibition by two weeks until March 14 due to the enthusiastic response from visitors. Since its opening, more than 160,000 people have visited, and it is expected to surpass a total of 300,000 visitors by the end of the extended period.

The Gallery Hosu is an open exhibition space that is seamlessly connected to the walking trail around Seokchon Lake. This museum, embracing an urban lake, has become a cultural landmark where art and relaxation coexist, emerging as an iconic regional cultural space just three months after its opening.

This inaugural exhibition is composed of contemporary art pieces centered on the theme of “color,” including works from the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art’s Art Bank collection. Not only are there indoor exhibits, but also works from renowned domestic installation artists and sculptors are harmoniously arranged in the outdoor spaces surrounding the lake. The changing light and colors with the seasons and time blend with the artworks, presenting a different landscape each day.

Originally scheduled to conclude on February 28, the exhibition’s operation will continue until March 14 due to numerous requests from visitors for an extension. Interest from visitors is expected to increase, as they look forward to enjoying the artworks alongside the fully blossoming spring scenery of Seokchon Lake.

During this exhibition period, the district is also operating a docent commentary program composed of local residents. Citizens can enhance their understanding of the artworks through professional explanations and gain deeper appreciation opportunities.

An exhibition official stated, “The Gallery Hosu is a space where one can experience changes in color that feel different depending on the time and weather,” and added, “We hope you enjoy a special art experience along with the maturing spring of Seokchon Lake.”

Sogang University Songpa-gu announced, “We are very pleased that the opening exhibition of the Gallery Hosu is receiving great love from the residents,” and added, “We will continue to prepare various art programs so that residents can enjoy culture close in their daily lives, making it a space for communication and empathy.”

Starting with this exhibition extension, Songpa-gu plans to continuously pursue diverse programs and exhibition planning to develop the Gallery Hosu into a regional representative cultural platform.
