Seoul’s Songpa District is beautifying its main streets with flowers to usher in spring, creating a vibrant urban environment. From March to November, the district is implementing the ‘Four Seasons Flower Path Project’ to allow citizens to experience the changing seasons through flowers in the city.
This spring, the city will be adorned with various seasonal flowers such as lupines, anise, daisies, violas, poppies, and daffodils. Notably, a 2,000㎡ flower bed will be created starting from the front yard of the district office to the central medians between the General Sports Complex Station and Mongchontoseong Station, as well as at traffic islands at Jamsil Intersection and Garak Market Intersection.
In April, 700 hanging flower pots will be installed along major roads such as Ogeum-ro and Baekjegobun-ro. Additionally, large flower pots will be placed in areas with high foot traffic, such as near subway stations and at the Jamsil Lake Bridge viewing shelter, to enhance the spring ambiance.

A new rapeseed flower spot has also emerged near Cheongryonggyo Bridge on Seongnae Stream. The Songpa-gu Facilities Management Corporation and residents hand-seeded 20kg of rapeseed, planning to maintain the scenic landscape with additional plantings each year. A large yellow rapeseed flower carpet spanning 1,000 pyeong is expected to unfold in this area.
Alongside this, the district is also actively pursuing the ‘Songpa Boulevard Premium Street Project.’ The plan includes widening sidewalks and creating a cherry blossom path along a 1.5km stretch from Seokchon Lake to Garak Market, transforming it into a desirable, pedestrian-friendly street garden.
Seok Kang-seok, chief of Songpa District, expressed, “I hope residents experience the arrival of spring while strolling along the beautifully blooming flower path. We aim to add greenery and visual delights to the everyday lives of our residents, creating an attractive city with street gardens.”
