Seoul’s Songpa District (District Chief Seo Gang-seok) announced that starting in October, it will implement the “Safe Door Support Project” providing security equipment to vulnerable households for residential safety. This project is being promoted as Songpa District was selected for the Seoul City support project for vulnerable household safety.
The “Safe Door Support Project” is designed to enhance the living safety of residents in detached houses and villas, which are relatively more vulnerable to crime prevention compared to apartments.
Supported items include ‘Door Open Detection Devices’ that send instant notifications to a mobile app when external intrusion is detected at windows, balconies, and entry doors, as well as double ‘Window Lock Devices’ that block entry through gas pipelines.
Eligible applicants are residents of single-family homes, townhouses, or villas, with either rental fees or home values below 400 million won, excluding residents of apartment buildings. Songpa District plans to finalize recipients after reviewing documents and conducting on-site inspections. Priority will be given to households living in low-rise housing, those consisting only of vulnerable social safety groups, and households with previous burglary crime histories.
In addition to this project, Songpa District is continuously expanding life safety initiatives for socially vulnerable groups, including women, children, the elderly, and the disabled. Later this month, the district was also selected for a Seoul City “Emergency Bell Installation Support Project” for underground spaces, planning to install emergency bells with scream recognition features in local underpasses.
Seo Gang-seok, the Songpa District Chief, stated, “We have expanded safety support, which has been focused on single-person households, to include residents of detached houses and villas. We will continue various projects to create a residential environment where all district residents can live with peace of mind.”
