The Ministry of Health and Welfare selected 14 new senior-friendly companies in the 1st quarter of 2025 and unveiled the support plan on April 30.

Senior-friendly companies are those that employ a certain ratio of people aged 60 and over. The Ministry of Health and Welfare selects these companies to promote job creation for the elderly. The 14 selected companies were confirmed after internal review and field investigation by the ministry.

The support scale for this round ranges from 60 million won to a maximum of 160 million won per company, with a total amount of 1.88 billion won. The Ministry of Health and Welfare plans to provide an average of 130 million won to these companies, and they aim to employ a total of 465 elderly individuals over the next five years.

Among the selected companies, Eco Mom’s Sanpol Baby Foods Agricultural Corporation specializes in producing baby food and plans to expand into senior-friendly food manufacturing. This company has created 25 elderly jobs in the baby food manufacturing field.

General Architectural Office Geon Jeong plans to provide 50 senior jobs by employing senior professional personnel in the construction sector. JK Global, which operates in seaweed manufacturing, has a workforce composed of 45% elderly workers and plans to hire 25 more.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare will conduct the 2nd quarter senior-friendly company competition until June 30, 2025, encouraging active participation from relevant ministries, local governments, public institutions, and private companies.

The senior-friendly company system operates under the 「Elderly Job and Social Activity Support Act」 and continues to expand as a model for senior employment spanning both the private and public sectors. To date, a total of 440 companies have been designated as senior-friendly.

Lim Eul-gi, Elderly Policy Officer at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, said, “We plan to continuously expand senior jobs that utilize the skills and experience of the elderly to support active and productive retirement.”
