The Seoul Metropolitan Government will expand the area covered by the Climate Flex Card service to include the four stations of Line 5 in Hanam City, starting with the first train on August 9.

The stations to be added are Misa Station, Hanam Pungsan Station, Hanam City Hall Station, and Hanam Geomdansan Station. The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the city of Hanam signed a business agreement on February 6 this year, and have launched the formal service approximately six months later.

With this measure, the Climate Flex Card service has expanded to include seven adjacent regions, including northeast (Namyangju·Guri), northwest (Gimpo·Goyang), and southeast (Seongnam·Gwacheon) surrounding Seoul.

The Seoul Subway Line 5 runs across the city from east to west, and the Climate Flex Card can be used at all 56 stations along the line. This line allows transfers to lines 1-9, Sillim Line, and Uisinseol Line.

Among Seoul city bus routes passing through Hanam City that have Seoul licenses, routes 342, 3217, 3316, 3318, 3323, and 3413 already accept the Climate Flex Card. Notably, from August 1, bus 3323 has been serving the Hangang Bus Jamsil Pier.

The Climate Flex Card is a transportation card that allows unlimited use of various public transport options such as subways, buses, and bicycles like Ttareungyi for a set fare. The general fare for 30 days is in the 60,000 won range, while the youth fare (ages 19-39) is in the 50,000 won range. There are also short-term options for 1-day, 3-day, 5-day, 7-day, and 15-day passes.

Android users can obtain a mobile Climate Flex Card for free via the Mobile T-money app. Physical cards can be purchased for 3,000 won at customer safety offices within stations on lines 1-8 of Seoul Metro or at convenience stores near the Sillim and Uisinseol lines. These cards can be recharged using the top-up machines inside subway stations and can be paid for with cash or credit card.

The postpaid Climate Flex Card is available in credit or debit card forms, providing both general payment features as well as Climate Flex Card functionality simultaneously.

Both the physical card and the postpaid card need to be registered on the “T-money Card & Pay” website. Without registration, the benefits of the Climate Flex Card do not apply, and the total cost of use will be billed at the general rate. Registration activates features like Ttareungyi use, balance refund, youth discounts, and the monthly spending limit for postpaid users.

The youth fare requires a principle of one card per person to prevent usage by others, necessitating identity verification every six months. Short-term cards are activated from the date of charging.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government is continuously pushing to enhance transportation convenience in the metropolitan area. In the second half of the year, policies for discounts for youth, parents with multiple children, and low-income groups are planned to be introduced.

Jang Kwon-yeon, Director of Transportation at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, stated, “By expanding the Climate Flex Card service to Hanam City, which shares a community of interest with Seoul, we expect to significantly enhance transportation convenience between Seoul and the metropolitan area,” adding, “We will collaborate with related agencies to offer diversified policy benefits like customized discounts.”
