The city of Seoul and the Green Seoul Citizens Committee will hold the ‘2025 Earth Day’ commemorative event at Yeouido Park on the 20th. This year’s theme is ‘Our Power, Our Planet,’ aligning with the global theme ‘Our Power, Our Planet,’ offering a variety of citizen-participatory programs.

The event will take place from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Culture Yard in Yeouido Park, where 25 booths will be operated by institutions, organizations, and companies, including about 180 college student supporters called the ‘Planet Guardians.’ Participants can naturally engage in experiences related to resource recycling, environmental education, and climate crisis awareness through games, quizzes, and making activities.

Departments such as the Seoul City Atmospheric Policy Division, Health Management Division, and Garden City Policy Division, along with the Metropolitan Meteorological Agency, will join in operating quiz and experience booths. There is also an event where bringing a personal cup can get you a beverage.

The opening ceremony at 2:00 PM will start with a musical performance titled ‘Do-Re-Mi Song for the Planet,’ inspired by the movie ‘The Sound of Music.’ During the ceremony, the first deputy mayor of Seoul and seven citizens will recite an eight-line poem on the theme of the Earth.

Inside the venue, a communal performance open to everyone will occur. It is a participatory project where participants gather around 21 round tables to color a large picture under the theme ‘Our Power, Our Planet.’ Various performances will also unfold, including a jazz concert by Earnest Music at 11:00 AM, a guitar performance by Kim Yujeong at noon, a ventriloquism show by Bent Voice at 3:00 PM, and a dance performance by Hexia at 4:00 PM.

Additionally, Seoul City is conducting an online event from April 1st to 22nd titled ‘Today I turned off OO and turned on OO.’ Participants can share eco-friendly lifestyle certification content on Instagram with hashtags #SeoulCityEarthDay #poweroffpoweron #ourpowerourplanet. A hundred winners will be chosen through a drawing to receive coffee coupons, and winners will be notified via individual DM on May 6th.

Kwon Min, head of the Seoul Climate Environment Headquarters, said, “We have prepared various programs for people to experience and share the importance of the Earth in the city.” He added, “We hope families and friends will enjoy the spring outing together while thinking about the environment.”
