This inspection, which started on February 28 and will last for about three weeks, includes ten major construction sites such as the area around 108-1 Yongdap-dong and Hangdang 7 district, and 37 hazardous facilities within maintenance zones like the Seongsoo Strategic District. The focus will be on checking the stability of construction sites and surrounding facilities that have a high risk of ground subsidence and collapse.

The construction sites targeted for inspection consist of four finishing works, one frame construction, two excavation works, and three halted constructions. The inspection items focus on preventing accident risk factors in advance, such as the safety of adjacent old houses, retaining walls, and slopes, signs of road subsidence, cracks in the ground around retaining walls, and the state of props.

The hazardous facilities within maintenance zones include 28 houses, seven retaining walls, and two steep slopes. The inspection will focus on structural cracks and deformations, ground subsidence, and roof leaks. Each zone will be inspected by the responsible public official, and external experts will participate if necessary.

The joint inspection team consists of contractors, supervisors, responsible public officials, and external experts, and the inspection matters are systematically managed through the ‘Construction Safety Management System’. If risk factors are discovered, external experts register them in the system, and contractors enter the results of the measures taken.

If minor issues are found, they will be immediately corrected on-site. If risk factors are detected, the management entities will be notified to carry out repairs, reinforcements, or demolition. If construction or supervision inadequacies are found, administrative actions will be taken, and a construction halt order will be considered if necessary. Facilities with a high risk of disaster occurrence will be designated as ‘Category 3 Facilities’ and subject to regular inspections.

Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, “Through the thawing season safety inspection in redevelopment and reconstruction maintenance sites, we will eliminate risk factors in advance and prioritize the safety of residents.” He added, “We will continue to make thorough inspections and proactive measures so that residents can live with peace of mind.”
