Seodaemun-gu in Seoul will host the ‘2025 Seodaemun Walking Event with Pets’ on April 12 in the area around Yeonhui-dong Ansan walking trail. This event is a local pet culture event where pet owners and ordinary residents can participate together, aiming to spread pet-friendly culture through various programs.

From noon to 2 p.m. on the day of the event, preliminary programs such as busking music performances, an OX golden bell game, and retro game experiences will be held at the entrance of the walking trail next to the back gate of Yeonbuk Middle School. Additionally, various supplementary programs are prepared, including the ‘Wait’ Championship for dogs, pet CPR experience, pet tarot, face painting, lead leash and pest repellent making, and a raffle draw.

A promotional booth will also be operated to recruit participants for ‘Seodaemun Dog Friends’ and ‘Seodaemun Dog Patrol Squad,’ and a separate booth will be set up for consultations on animal adoption, dog behavior correction, and pet registration.

The main walking program of the event starts at 2 p.m. Participants will walk with their pets along a 2km circular walking path. Upon completing the course, participants can take commemorative photos at a photo zone. The walking path was constructed by Seodaemun-gu in November 2023 and is designed for safe use with pets, with an average walking time of about an hour.

Residents interested in participating can apply through the Seodaemun Napeum Center website or by calling the Seodaemun-gu Pet Support Department. There is no participation fee, and anyone can participate, regardless of pet ownership.

Seodaemun-gu aims to create a space where pet owners and non-pet owners can enjoy together and contribute to enhancing understanding and empathy for pets within the local community through this event.

Seong-Heon Lee, mayor of Seodaemun-gu, stated, “This will be a meaningful opportunity for residents to spend warm moments with their pets and communicate with each other. We look forward to the interest and participation of many residents.”
