Samsung Electronics has applied Corning’s new mobile glass ceramic, “Corning® Gorilla® Glass Ceramic 2,” to the front display of the Galaxy S25 Edge.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is the thinnest model in the Galaxy S series, with high technical requirements for display protection materials. To meet these requirements, Samsung has introduced high-strength ceramic glass and enhanced durability and design completeness through its process and reinforcement technology.
“Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2” is manufactured by precisely including crystals in the main material, glass. This product maintains light transmittance while providing improved strength compared to conventional glass. An ion exchange process has also been added to significantly improve resistance to shocks and scratches.
This collaboration took place as Samsung pursued innovation in both product performance and design. Kwangjin Bae, Vice President of Samsung MX Division, stated, “The Galaxy S25 Edge, the thinnest S series in history, has set new standards for craftsmanship and performance,” and added, “To implement an innovative product experience, both companies have shared cutting-edge technology and user-centric product philosophies reflected in the Galaxy S25 Edge.”

Andrew Beck, Vice President of Corning’s Mobile Consumer Electronics Division, also said, “A product that combines premium design and durability will meet consumers’ expectations,” adding that this collaboration “well demonstrates the determination of Corning and Samsung to meet the ever-evolving expectations of consumers.”
Samsung and Corning have maintained a partnership for 50 years, starting with a joint venture for TV glass in 1973. They have contributed to improving display durability by applying Gorilla Glass to all previous models of the Galaxy S series.
The specifications and detailed features of the Galaxy S25 Edge will be unveiled online on May 13 at 9 AM through the Samsung Newsroom and Samsung.com.
