Roblox has unveiled an AI model called ‘Cube 3D’ that can generate 3D objects from text prompts alone. This model is designed to automatically create 3D models when developers input simple commands, aiming to streamline the game development and content creation process.

Unlike the existing 2D reconstruction method, Cube 3D has been trained using actual 3D data on the Roblox platform. As a result, the generated objects are designed to integrate seamlessly into the gaming environment. Roblox has provided this model as open source, allowing external developers to utilize it independently and enabling the development of plugins and customized data learning.

Currently released as a beta version, Cube 3D allows for rapid prototyping, customization, and optimized 3D model production within games through the mesh generation API. Creators can adjust colors and textures, and future API improvements are planned to support multimodal inputs.

Roblox plans to introduce additional features such as text generation, text-to-speech, and speech-to-text conversion. In the long term, the goal is to develop an AI system that can automatically generate entire game scenes.

While Cube 3D is provided for free, Roblox intends to impose usage restrictions for resource management purposes. With the release of this AI tool, Roblox is further expanding the automation of the game development process and devising ways to enhance creators’ accessibility.
