Popular Making Experience Programs at the National Forest Recreation Center, Showcasing Regional Characteristics

The Korea Forest Service’s National Forest Recreation Center (Director Kim Myung-jong) introduced a variety of making experience programs available at the National Forest Recreation Center on the 28th.

Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest (Wonju, Gangwon Province) is operating a flower pressing craft experience, where participants dye mirrors, lamps, and keychains using flower petals and leaves collected in the spring. It has gained popularity for its combination of artistry and fun.

Jirisan Natural Recreation Forest (Hamyang, Gyeongnam Province) offers activities using traditional Korean paper (hanji) to make dolls and decorative shoes, which are well received by both children and adults who cherish tradition.

Geommasan Natural Recreation Forest (Yeongyang, Gyeongbuk Province) offers a wildflower pot-making experience, where visitors can plant rock plants in pots made from dead tree stems, helping children understand forest ecology.

Daeasasan Natural Recreation Forest (Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk Province) provides a ceramic painting experience where participants paint on half-baked ceramics and then fire them in an electric kiln to complete their creations. The satisfaction of being able to use self-made ceramics in daily life is high.

Byeonsan Natural Recreation Forest (Buan, Jeonbuk Province) offers a healthy salt-making experience by adding turmeric, mulberry leaves, and hamcho powder to sea salt produced from the nearby Gomso Bay. The program has been well received by people of all ages.

The National Forest Recreation Center has also prepared various woodworking experience programs, which can be applied for at each forest’s ticket office.

Kim Myung-jong, director of the National Forest Recreation Center, said, “We hope that visitors will enjoy resting with nature and creating special memories through making experiences at the National Forest Recreation Center.”
