NVIDIA plans to open an ‘Accelerated Quantum Research Center (NVAQC)’ in Boston in 2025, aiming to overcome the barriers to practical applications of quantum computing such as qubit instability, computational errors, and algorithm inefficiency. The center will integrate quantum hardware with AI using an AI supercomputer equipped with 576 Blackwell GPUs, focusing on developing systems capable of solving real industrial problems.

The core objective is to develop hybrid algorithms that combine classical and quantum computing. Through the CUDA-Q platform, AI-based decoders will correct errors in real-time, aiming to reduce qubit noise and improve reliability with parallel and low-latency processing. This establishes a foundation for quantum processors, which are currently in the experimental phase, to evolve into practical technologies applicable to industries such as healthcare, materials, and optimization.

The solution for commercializing quantum technology lies in ‘connection’. NVAQC will not be limited to a single company’s research but will establish organic collaboration with academia and industry. Esteemed academic institutions like Harvard and MIT, alongside quantum hardware companies such as Quantinuum, QuEra, and Quantum Machines, will collaborate on developing quantum applications that can address complex problems in drug discovery, new materials design, and logistics and finance.

Quantum technology is now at a turning point, requiring practicality, speed, and stability beyond theoretical possibilities. By integrating AI and quantum technologies, NVIDIA is breaking through these barriers. NVAQC is expected to serve as not just a research institute but as a launchpad for the popularization of quantum computing and a testbed leading the next round of global technological competition.
