The National Central Science Museum announced that it will hold a summer special event titled “Splash into the Science Museum!” from August 1 to 10 to coincide with the summer vacation. This event is designed for families to enjoy both water play and science experiences.
The main programs include the “Watermelon Field Pool” for young children and the “Chilling Mankind Hall,” a space for horror experiences. The Watermelon Field Pool will be set up at the science museum’s family campsite, consisting of two pools measuring 10m by 10m and one measuring 5m by 5m, along with a hut. It will be open to families with young children twice a day (from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm), and reservations can be made starting at 10 am on July 29.
The water play facilities will replace water entirely every 2 to 3 days, continuously operate the filters, and undergo water quality inspections in collaboration with specialized agencies and in-house testing. Safety personnel will be allocated on-site to ensure children’s safety.
The second floor of the natural history hall, designated as the “Mankind Hall,” will be set in a horror theme, allowing visitors to follow stories, deduce clues, and find the culprit in a mystery-solving program. Participation is possible without reservations, and a photo zone will be available.
Various exhibitions and educational programs will also be held during the event. In the Creature Exploration Hall, visitors can observe tarantulas at the “Spider” special exhibition (July 22 to August 31), and the “Writing Our Science Records” exhibition will take place in the Science Hall lobby (August 10 to September 30). Additionally, the “Meow and Woof Academic Conference” will be held throughout the Science Museum on August 2-3.
Moreover, “Summer Science Camp” at the Science Camp Hall, “Summer Science Classes” at the Science Education Hall, and “Tom and Dream’s Secret Laboratory” on the second floor of the Children’s Science Hall will be available as educational programs for elementary school students. The Secret Laboratory sessions are conducted three times a day from Wednesday to Saturday, with 16 participants per session.
Kwon Seok-min, director of the National Central Science Museum, stated, “We hope that this vacation event prepared in celebration of our 80th anniversary allows families to enjoy a cool and special summer with experiences combining water play, science, and mystery-solving.”
