Seoul’s Namsan Hanok Village announced that it will hold its first seasonal event commemorating “Hansik,” one of Korea’s five major traditional holidays, on April 5. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Okindong Hanok within the Hanok Village.

Hansik is the 105th day from the winter solstice, traditionally a day when people eat cold food and refrain from using fire. Around this time, it is customary to tend ancestors’ graves and enjoy folk games and food. The event will feature experience programs introducing the history and culture of Hansik.

Traditional game experiences include “Turanhui,” where participants compete by knocking boiled eggs against each other, and shuttlecock kicking. As part of the food experience, there will be opportunities to make “Hwajeon” (register onsite, participation fee 17,000 won per person) and share “Mugwort Rice Cake” (limited to the first 100 participants at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.).

The online pre-event “Your Spring Weather” will be held from March 28 to April 5 on the official SNS of Namsan Hanok Village, with gifticons provided to select participants via a draw.

Namsan Hanok Village plans to sequentially operate traditional cultural programs that allow visitors to experience the five major holidays, including “Dano,” starting this year. The venue will be open for viewing daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from April to October, with free admission.

Detailed event information can be found on the official website and SNS of Namsan Hanok Village.
