The Ministry of Science and ICT (Vice Minister and Minister Bae Kyung-hoon) and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Han Seong-sook) have agreed to cooperate to expand online exports and market channels for SMEs and micro-enterprises. The two institutions signed a business agreement at the International Postal Logistics Center on the 12th and announced joint cooperation measures.

According to the agreement, if exporting SMEs selected for the joint logistics support project of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups use the international postal services of the Ministry of Science and ICT’s Postal Business Headquarters, logistic costs will be discounted. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups will support the budget for these companies to reduce the logistics cost burden of exporting SMEs. Through this cooperation, the two institutions anticipate that SMEs will be able to enter overseas markets with more competitive prices.

The two institutions will cooperate to ensure that SMEs can utilize international postal services such as international express mail services (EMS) at a dedicated air logistics center for SMEs, the Smart Trade Hub. This is expected to facilitate international logistics processing for exporting SMEs and increase logistics efficiency.

The agreement also includes support for the online market expansion of micro-enterprises. The Postal Business Headquarters and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will cooperate to allow micro-enterprises to enter the post office shopping mall, with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups supporting promotion costs. Furthermore, the Postal Business Headquarters plans to operate an online special exhibition at the post office shopping mall during the accompanying festival to expand the online marketing channels for micro-enterprises.

The two institutions also decided to provide logistics consultations to exporting companies using international mail and establish joint export consultation counters. This will help SMEs address various issues encountered in the export process.

Vice Minister Bae Kyung-hoon stated, “The international postal service of the Postal Business Headquarters plays an important role in helping SMEs and micro-enterprises to smoothly enter overseas markets.” He expressed expectations that this agreement will aid in promoting the export of SMEs and expanding the online market channels for micro-enterprises.

This agreement was concluded as part of the ‘On-site Meeting on Activating Online Exports of SMEs’ hosted by the Minister of SMEs and Startups. Representatives from exporting companies, platforms, and others attended the meeting, toured the International Postal Logistics Center, and discussed measures to activate online exports.
