The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (led by Vice Prime Minister and Minister Baek Kyung-hoon) announced that on November 26, Vice Prime Minister Baek Kyung-hoon visited the Postal Information Management Center in Naju, Jeollanam-do, which is under the Korea Post, to inspect the recovery status of the postal information system and to encourage the staff.
This visit aimed to directly verify the progress of recovery and stabilization following the recent disruption of the postal information system due to a fire at the National Computing and Information Resources Service.
At the site, Vice Prime Minister Baek Kyung-hoon held a meeting with the staff to listen to major updates and challenges in the recovery process. He said, “Thanks to the swift response and tireless efforts of the Postal Information Management Center staff, we were able to minimize damage to the public,” and evaluated it as a model case for government information system disaster response.
He further requested, “Please ensure that the follow-up tasks such as upgrading the Disaster Recovery (DR) system are carried out without delay. We will continue to support the stable operation of the postal information system and the AI transition of the postal business.”
After the meeting, Vice Prime Minister Baek expressed his gratitude to the employees by providing refreshments, acknowledging their dedication to the prolonged recovery and stabilization work following the National Computing and Information Resources Service fire.
