The Jeju National Forest Ecology Management Center under the Western Region Forest Service (headed by Kim Young-Hyeok) announced that it is operating the ‘Meeting of Forests and Humanities’ ecological experience program combining humanities and forests three times from April to June.
This program is planned to enhance the public’s understanding of forest culture and to promote the ecological and cultural value of forests.
Participants of the first session in April expressed that this was their first ecological education for themselves during the experience held against the backdrop of Ichaechun.
On May 30, the program will explore the meaning of the forest with the theme of creativity and fusion through the examples of Antoni Gaudí, known as the ‘architect of God,’ and Ludwig van Beethoven, who accompanied the forest while overcoming hearing impairments.
On June 27, the program will convey a message on resilience through the process of forest regeneration after being damaged by wildfires.

The limit for each session is 15 people, accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants can apply via the QR code on the event poster or through the Forest Service website’s bulletin board until May 29.
Kim Young-Hyeok, head of the Western Region Forest Service, expressed his hope that this program will serve as an opportunity to cultivate cultural sensitivity and ecological understanding together while experiencing the importance of forest conservation.
