The Mangwon Yusuji Park Golf Course, operated by Mapo-gu, has gained significant popularity through word of mouth from residents. Established last year over approximately 6,000 square meters of Mangwon-dong’s Mangwon Yusuji Sports Park area, the 9-hole (33-par) course is appreciated for its low risk of injury and simple rules, making it easy for people of all ages and genders to enjoy.
Recently, the number of users has surged, with people even lining up on weekends, indicating a strong response. Its proximity to the Han River and the synergy with various other sports facilities in the sports park, such as an artificial turf soccer field, soft tennis court, futsal field, and inline track, further enhance its appeal.
In response to the high interest from residents, Mapo-gu plans to extend the course’s operating hours by two hours starting April 1, from 8 AM to 6 PM, down from the original 9 AM to 5 PM. Additionally, during the summer season (May to August), it will be flexibly open from 6 AM to 8 PM. Consequently, the number of slots, previously four maximum per day, will expand to seven during summer, allowing more residents to enjoy park golf.
The Mangwon Yusuji Park Golf Course is available for free on a first-come, first-served basis, accommodating up to 36 people per slot.
Mapo-gu is committed to expanding various lifestyle sports facilities, including the park golf course, to support its residents’ healthy leisure activities.
Park Kang-soo, the Mapo-gu mayor, expressed, “I am proud that the park golf course, designed for exercise amidst nature within the city, is receiving much love. I hope that the extended operating hours will allow more residents to enjoy healthy leisure time.”
