The campaign will run until June 30, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Korea Environment Corporation, and E-Circular Governance. It involves collecting used batteries and suction plastic from vacuum cleaners to recover rare metals and waste plastics, providing discounts to participating customers when purchasing new parts.

LG Electronics has been conducting the Battery Turn campaign annually since 2022, and this year, it has expanded the range of products and parts covered. Robot vacuum cleaners have been added to the battery collection target, and wireless vacuum cleaner suction plastic can also be returned.

According to their internal customer survey, the most frequently replaced parts by wireless vacuum cleaner users are batteries and suction plastics.

Customers wishing to participate in the campaign can return their vacuum cleaner waste parts to any LG Electronics service center nationwide. After the return, customers can purchase new parts for LG Electronics vacuums at discounts of up to 45,000 won for batteries and up to 51,000 won for suction parts.

Customers who find it difficult to visit a service center can apply on the LG Electronics online brand shop and return the waste parts to the nearest e-waste collection bin. The location of these bins can be checked on the ‘Resource Circulation Practice Platform,’ and the same discount benefits apply when purchasing online.

From 2022 to 2024, a total of approximately 116,000 customers participated in the campaign. A total of 90.1 tons of used batteries were collected, totaling over 200,000 units, from which more than 8.2 tons of rare metals were extracted.

LG Electronics’ Jeong Gi-wook, in charge of the vacuum cleaner business, stated, “In appreciation of the many customers who have participated in the resource circulation campaign over the past three years, we are expanding the target products and parts this year.”

The Battery Turn campaign will be conducted until June 30.
