LG Chem is set to target the global beauty industry by emphasizing sustainable eco-friendly solutions.

On March 14, LG Chem announced that it will participate in the ‘Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2025’, held in Bologna, Italy from March 20 for three days, to showcase beauty packaging solutions based on eco-friendly materials. Cosmoprof is the world’s largest beauty industry fair, attended by over 3,000 beauty-related companies globally.

At this exhibition, LG Chem will unveil packaging materials and containers made from eco-friendly materials, introducing a sustainability-focused beauty materials portfolio. Particularly in the eco-zone of LG Chem’s partner company, Cosmax, they will showcase beauty containers using Drop-In solutions made from renewable plant-based materials such as waste cooking oil, alongside chemically recycled plastic called CB (Circular Balanced) material.

These products maintain the same functionality and durability as conventional plastics, while contributing to carbon reduction and solving plastic waste issues.

LG Chem’s proprietary single polyethylene (PE) material ‘UNIQABLE’ will also be unveiled at this exhibition. It is produced from a single material, maintaining the same durability as conventional composite material packaging films, yet it is 100% recyclable and features both barrier properties and transparency.

LG Chem is equipped with a customer-tailored production system that allows immediate application from eco-friendly materials to final products, planning to actively target the sustainability demands in the global beauty market. In the first half of this year, the company plans to commence the operation of Asia’s first supercritical pyrolysis oil plant to internalize basic materials for the production of chemically recycled materials.

Additionally, leveraging the research capabilities of the Color Design Center within the CS Center, LG Chem plans to implement various colors and textures based on sustainable materials, meeting the design elements required by beauty brands. The company also plans to enhance its digital CRM (customer relationship management) system to systematically analyze the sustainability demands of global beauty brands, supporting the integration of LG Chem’s eco-friendly packaging solutions with brand identities.

An LG Chem representative stated, “By participating in Cosmoprof, we will further strengthen our position in the global market by showcasing sustainable beauty materials and customer-tailored solutions.”
