LG Chem has started supporting solar facility installation to reduce carbon for its partner company, Wuseong Chemical, actively pursuing carbon neutrality.

On the 9th, LG Chem announced it would be installing solar panels on the roof of Wuseong Chemical’s factory as part of its “Carbon Neutral Leading Plant Support” initiative. This government project, managed by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology under the Ministry of Science and ICT, aims to assist companies in achieving carbon neutrality.

LG Chem is the only major company among the participants to provide direct financial support to its client companies. The strategy is to reduce emissions from its partners while strengthening its capabilities in managing Scope 3 emissions and Product Carbon Footprint across its supply chain.

Wuseong Chemical, a manufacturer of plastic functional additives, has been participating for years in LG Chem’s “Energy Co-Growth Project,” which has been operational since 2014, and has established itself as a partner with low-carbon competitiveness.

In addition to this support, LG Chem is broadening its ESG management comprehensively by helping partners measure and verify carbon emissions, consulting on the production of carbon-reduction products, and establishing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

“We will continue to challenge the realization of carbon neutrality with our partners and strengthen ESG management,” said Ko Yoon-joo, Executive Vice President of LG Chem CSSO.
