Seoul City is actively supporting the reemployment of people in their 40s by launching a ’40s Job Camp Employment Program’ which integrates practical training with on-site hiring. This program aims to offer stable jobs to middle-aged individuals seeking new careers after early retirement, focusing on training skilled personnel in the cooling and heating sectors.

The Seoul50Plus Foundation collaborates with Korea Polytechnics Seoul Jungsoo Campus to provide cutting-edge educational facilities and hands-on training. As a Seoul-based organization, the foundation continues to support tailored employment opportunities for mid-career individuals through career planning, vocational training, and job creation across its five campuses and thirteen centers.

This ’40s Job Camp’ is structured into three stages: exploration, practical work, and employment. The program combines online and offline education with field training to enhance practical job skills, culminating in direct interviews with companies upon completion.

The first available course is the Air Conditioning Installation Technician course, with applications open from March 4 to 19, and the training runs for approximately four weeks. With the growing demand for energy-saving and smart cooling systems, the course aims to develop experts in the installation and maintenance of air conditioners for buildings and homes. Applicants do not need prior experience, and after completing the course, interviews with companies such as Myungil Co. Ltd and Samsung Electronics Logistics Tech are arranged. Skilled individuals can pursue entrepreneurship or freelance opportunities, offering potential for stable income.

The subsequent Intelligent Heat Source (Boiler) Management Technician course accepts applications from May 22 to June 11. This program teaches IoT-based remote control and eco-friendly energy-saving technologies, enabling graduates to enter the smart building management and maintenance sector. Post-training interviews with companies like Kyungdong TS Co. Ltd. are scheduled. With increasing demand for eco-friendly, high-efficiency heating, this field promises long-term employment stability.

Additionally, courses for Health and Exercise Management Experts, Eco-Friendly European Plaster Technicians, and a total of 10 other practical programs will begin sequentially. Starting on March 10, these courses are designed for 40s looking to build skills in promising technological fields and create additional income.

The eligibility criteria require applicants to be 40s residents of Seoul, and all courses are offered free of charge. Applications are available through the Seoul50Plus Portal.

Kim Eun-jung, head of the 40s Strategy Team at the Seoul50Plus Foundation, stated, “Technical jobs provide stable employment opportunities regardless of age, and this program’s close collaboration with employers ensures that diligent participants can secure employment immediately upon course completion.”

Through this initiative, Seoul City intends to strengthen support for 40-somethings, enabling them to make a career comeback in technology-based specialized fields.
