The Rural Development Administration is launching a tailored education program utilizing the computerized program ‘Chuksaro’ to enhance management efficiency for Hanwoo (Korean beef cattle) farms. The agency, led by Director Kwon Jae-han, announced that starting March 7 at the Chungju Agricultural Technology Center, a total of 13 nationwide training sessions will be conducted.
‘Chuksaro (Hanwoo)’ is a program designed to comprehensively manage individual cattle information such as pedigree, insemination, and birth tracking to improve both productivity and management results. Through this system, farmers can view all rearing history at a glance and make data-driven decisions.
The training is structured primarily around computer practice, allowing participants to directly engage with ‘Chuksaro.’ It will be an open session, allowing even those who are not yet members to experience it. Applications for the training can be made through provincial agricultural research centers and city or county agricultural technology centers.

The Rural Development Administration provides annual education to expand the distribution of ‘Chuksaro.’ To facilitate user accessibility, they have created and distributed the ‘2025 Chuksaro User Manual for Hanwoo’ along with a card news format. The latest manual will be available for download from March 7 at the Agricultural Science Library website (lib.rda.go.kr) and will include new service explanations linked with tracking data from the Livestock Product Quality Evaluation Institute starting this year.
Jeong Jin-young, Head of the Technical Support Division at the National Institute of Animal Science, said, “We will analyze livestock improvement and productivity enhancement factors using Chuksaro and apply them in the field to support the increase of farmers’ income.” He further announced plans to host a contest and forum themed ‘The Present and Future of Smart Farms, Chuksaro,’ in the latter half of the year to share successful know-how.
Through this program, the Rural Development Administration aims to help Hanwoo farms realize an integrated smart farm from rearing management to productivity analysis and management improvement, providing data-driven solutions to the livestock industry facing challenges such as aging, labor shortages, and feed cost burdens for sustainable agriculture.
