The Jeongneung 4-dong Hanmaum Community, a local volunteer organization in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, has donated funds to support victims of the forest fires that occurred in the Yeongnam area in March. The donation ceremony was held in the office of the Seongbuk-gu mayor, with five members of the Jeongneung 4-dong Hanmaum Community present.

The Hanmaum Community, formed in 1993 under the leadership of Advisor Jeong Yang-hwan, has consistently conducted volunteer activities focusing on scholarship and welfare support. To date, it has provided scholarships and goods to over 2,500 neighbors, conducting tailored sharing activities for various groups such as youth, the elderly, and people with disabilities, contributing to community welfare.

The Hanmaum Community, which annually donates 200 kg of rice to the ‘Warm Winter in Seongbuk-gu’ event, has also addressed welfare blind spots in the region through regular and irregular support, such as providing sponsored goods to residents of Jeongneung 1~4-dong during holidays and seasonal events.

The donated funds are planned to be used for the recovery support and disaster relief activities for residents affected by forest fires. Seongbuk-gu is also accepting additional donations from residents until April 11. The funds will be quickly delivered to the affected residents.

Chairman Lee Seong-gwan of the Hanmaum Community stated, “We will work together with the community to help residents affected by the forest fire return to their daily lives as soon as possible.” Seongbuk-gu mayor Lee Seung-ro expressed, “I hope the valuable donations provide practical help, and the district will also do its best for recovery and support.”

Seongbuk-gu is calling for the active participation of residents who wish to donate, and those interested can inquire at Seongbuk-gu Office.
