The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in conjunction with the Korea Creative Content Agency, will host the ‘2025 Broadcast Worldwide (BCWW)’ at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from September 16 to 19.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Broadcast Worldwide market, which supports the export of broadcast and online video service (OTT) content and facilitates exchanges between video industry stakeholders. Last year, approximately 10,000 participants from 30 countries attended, resulting in export contracts worth $86.24 million (approximately 119.7 billion won).

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Window to What’s Next.’ The event will feature exhibition halls for content and platform companies, showcases, and business matchmaking between production companies, buyers, and investors. Programs for general visitors include lectures highlighting the latest technologies and industry trends, and promotional areas for K-OTT and Fast Television (FAST), a smart television-based real-time playback service.

To commemorate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France in 2026, France is participating as this year’s guest country. Representatives from the French National Cinema Center (CNC) and various broadcasts, film, animation, and OTT sectors will attend. A joint French national pavilion and programs such as content showcases and lectures are planned. Opportunities for export and collaborative production between the two countries’ video industries will also be expanded.

A variety of lectures will be held during the event. Lee Myung-han, CEO of Egg is Coming, will present on ‘Creator Economy: A Video Content Ecosystem Led by Fandom.’ Alan Wolk, a media scholar who introduced the concept of ‘FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV),’ will lecture on ‘Competition and Expansion of Media Platforms.’ In addition, other lectures such as ‘The Future of AI and Content’ and ‘New Opportunities in K-Content: The Emerging FAST Platform’ are also scheduled, totaling more than 10 lectures.
