Hyundai Motor Group participated in the ‘MARS 2025 (Mega-city A.I Revolution Summit)’ held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from June 18 to 20, showcasing AI-based software technology.

MARS 2025, an AI-specialized expo hosted by Mars City, featured booths from both Hyundai’s Robotics Lab and Kia. The Robotics Lab presented an interactive booth displaying robot technology and related software that incorporates AI.

During the event, Hyundai Motor Group unveiled its on-device VLM (Vision Language Model) and intelligent CCTV technology for the first time. The on-device VLM is a technology that converts images recognized by a robot’s camera into text or voice, utilizing data processing technologies based on the Robotics Lab’s vision integrated controller. This technology is implemented in Hyundai’s Gangnam office’s guide robot ‘DAL-e’, enabling it to recognize users’ appearances or objects and respond accordingly.

The intelligent CCTV is equipped with AI-based video analysis technology that can automatically detect unusual situations such as fires, intrusions, and vandalism. Hyundai Motor Group showcased effective safety management solutions by integrating Boston Dynamics’ Spot with autonomous driving modules from the Robotics Lab and the intelligent CCTV.

The Robotics Lab also introduced six other software technologies, including the ▲ Facial Recognition System ‘Facey’, ▲ AI-based delivery robot ‘DAL-e Delivery’, ▲ Service Guide Robot ‘DAL-e’, and a robot control system ‘NARCHON’.

Kia operated a separate booth where visitors could experience its software technology through exhibition spaces configured into ▲ AI Assistant Zone, ▲ SDV Zone, and ▲ PBV Zone. Visitors could experience voice recognition features by boarding the EV4 vehicle equipped with generative AI and directly see the evolution of mobility spaces through the interior of the displayed PV5 van model. Kia also offered guided docent tours at the event.
