Seoul’s Gangdong-gu announced on the 21st that the herb flowers at the Herb Astronomy Park, located in Dunchon-dong (Dunchon-dong Mountain 86), are in full bloom from May to June, attracting a steady stream of visitors.

Since its opening in 2006, the Herb Astronomy Park has garnered attention for its design symbolizing the “astronomy connecting the sky and the earth” and its landscape featuring approximately 180 types of herbs and trees. In the same year, it was selected as a top scenic spot in Seoul.

Currently, a variety of herb flowers, including California poppies, cornflowers, English lavender, and hot lip sage, are in full bloom throughout the park, capturing the attention of visitors. The park also offers various facilities, such as photo zones, a picture frame garden, observation decks, an experience learning center, and a sculpture garden to enhance the visitor experience.

At night, the combination of soft lighting and open views makes it a popular spot for enjoying the city nightscape. Especially noteworthy is the barrier-free deck road, opened in July last year, which provides a gentle slope from the park entrance to the summit, improving accessibility for wheelchair and stroller users, as well as the elderly.

Additionally, to improve accessibility and parking convenience for visitors, Gangdong-gu has been allowing free parking for up to 30 cars from April 14th at the nearby Gangdong Greenway Family Camping Site’s affiliated parking lot, available from Monday to Thursday, between 11 am and 4 pm, excluding public holidays, depending on the campsite bookings.

Lee Hyun-sam, Head of the Urban Green Division in Gangdong-gu, stated, “The Herb Astronomy Park is a space where you can simultaneously enjoy nature and fragrance in the city,” and added that “since the barrier-free deck road opened, the number of visitors has increased. Now is the perfect time to visit with the herb flowers in full bloom.”
