Seoul’s Gwangjin District (headed by Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is conducting the “2026 Resident Informatization Education” from February to enhance digital competency and adapt to changes in the digital environment.

The district offers lifestyle-oriented informatization education to equip residents with the necessary digital skills for daily life. The curriculum ranges from basic skills like utilizing computers and smartphones, and experiencing unmanned terminals, to advanced skills like experiencing one-person broadcasting and searching information using generative AI technology.

The district operates a “1:1 Digital Counseling Center” to support participants according to their learning level. This allows residents facing difficulties with digital technology to participate in the courses comfortably through customized individual consultations.

The education programs are held at four resident informatization education centers in Achasan, Hwayang-dong, Junggok-dong, and Jayang-dong, from February to December. Not only Gwangjin residents registered in the district but also local business operators and employees can participate. Registration for classes opens in mid-month on the Gwangjin District Office website, and for basic courses, registration by phone consultation is also available.

For the first time this year, Gwangjin District is introducing “Visiting Informatization Education.” Professional instructors will directly visit community centers, traditional markets, welfare centers, and adult literacy education institutions to provide on-site education in everyday spaces. The district plans to expand its support to ensure residents with limited mobility can also acquire digital skills.

Last year, Gwangjin District’s informatization education achieved results at national competitions. Two Gwangjin residents advanced to the finals in the “National Happiness IT Competition” hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, winning the Prime Minister’s Award and a Gold Award respectively.

Kim Kyung-ho, the head of Gwangjin District, stated, “We have prepared diverse informatization education programs to eliminate digital blind spots in daily life,” and further added, “We will continue to expand education that provides practical help in the daily lives of our residents.”
