Seoul Yangcheon-gu announced that it will operate a ‘themed outdoor pop-up playground’ in conjunction with the ‘Seoul Style Kids Cafe’ at five autumn festival sites from September to October.

This pop-up playground is prepared to provide a space within the festival grounds for children to play safely outdoors during weekends in the pleasant autumn festival season, offering various experiential games to foster creativity and imagination.

The playground will consist of five themes matching each festival. It will be operated as a family-friendly play space where children aged 3 to 9 and their guardians can participate together.

The first event will be held on September 13 at the ‘Paris Park Cultural Festival,’ under the theme ‘Let’s Play in Paris.’ Themed playgrounds utilizing Parisian landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower zipline, Arc de Triomphe block building, and Petit TGV, will be operated to allow children to experience global culture through play. Following this, the ‘Autumn Playground’ theme will be presented at the ‘Omok Park Autumn Cultural Festival’ on September 20, featuring activities like chestnut hunting, leaf blowing, and camping games to capture the seasonal sentiment.

On October 18, the ‘Sunrise Village Cultural Festival’ will feature the theme ‘Sunrise Dreamland,’ providing physical activities and adventure with train play, air sports, and retro experiences. On October 25, the ‘Neunggol Mountain Youth Cultural Festival’ will operate under the theme ‘Neunggol Mountain Expedition,’ offering challenging and creative activities like air bounce and spinning riders.

The grand finale of the autumn festivals will be the ‘Yangcheon Family Street Festival’ on October 26. Under the theme ‘Yangcheon Blue Marble,’ interactive play spaces for the whole family to enjoy together will be created, featuring chalk art, action painting, brick art, and giant Jenga.

Meanwhile, Yangcheon-gu is currently operating seven public indoor playgrounds ‘Seoul Style Kids Cafe’ to help resolve low birthrate issues and alleviate childcare burdens. The district plans to expand to 11 locations by the end of this year by adding four more. ‘Seoul Style Kids Cafe’ is gaining residents’ favor with its affordable usage fees, various play facilities, and childcare services.

Yangcheon District Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “This outdoor pop-up playground will provide a special experience where children can play safely and make memories with their families at the festival sites,” adding, “We will continue to introduce diverse child policies to make Yangcheon a good place to raise children and an enjoyable place to live.”
