To celebrate Children’s Week, Eunpyeong-gu is holding the “40th Eunpyeong-gu Children’s Writing and Drawing Contest.”
The contest is jointly hosted and organized by Eunpyeong-gu and the Eunpyeong-gu Child Committee. It has become a representative children’s cultural event in the area and marks its 40th anniversary this year. It is open to elementary school students who live or study in Eunpyeong-gu.
The themes are “AI and Our Future,” “My Neighbor,” “If I Become Mayor,” and “Digital Addiction,” which were selected through a theme contest for elementary school students last February.
Participants can enter both writing and drawing categories. Writing submissions should be in free format on one A4 page, and drawings should be on one 8-cut drawing paper. Submissions, along with the application form and personal information consent form, can be sent by mail or submitted in person to the Family Policy Division’s Child-Friendly Team at Eunpyeong-gu Office. The submission period is from April 16 to May 9.
Judging will be conducted by external experts, who will evaluate creativity, thematic relevance, effort, and completeness. Winners will include 31 entrants in the writing category and 32 in the drawing category, totaling 63 winners. The drawing category will be judged in separate age groups for lower and upper grades.
The winning works will be published in the “Dream Trees of Daechu Village” 30th issue, and an exhibition of the awarded works will also be held. The exhibition is intended to boost the pride and creativity of the winning children.
Eunpyeong-gu Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said, “The contest provides insights and imagination from a child’s perspective on the world, and we will continue to create an environment where children can express themselves freely.”
