Eunpyeong District Holds Bulkwangcheon Cleanup: Releases EM Soil Balls and Loaches

The Seoul Eunpyeong District announced that on the 9th, the Saemaeul Movement Eunpyeong District held the ‘Bulkwangcheon Cleansing Activity’ near Eunpyeongchundang along the Bulkwangcheon stream.

The event was attended by Kim Mi-kyung, the mayor of Eunpyeong District, along with Saemaeul leaders and around 50 members of the Eunpyeong Green Youth.

Participants engaged in various activities to improve the water quality and restore the ecosystem of Bulkwangcheon. They threw soil balls made by mixing Effective Microorganism (EM) fermentation liquid with loess into the stream to aid in water purification and released loaches to help restore the ecosystem. They also walked approximately 1.2 km from Eungam Station to Wasan Bridge, collecting litter along the way.

Kim Chang-woon, the chairperson of the Saemaeul Movement Eunpyeong District, expressed gratitude to the members and the district mayor who supported the cause for Bulkwangcheon this year, saying, “We will continue to lead efforts to enhance the local environment with the spirit of volunteering and sharing.”

Kim Mi-kyung, the mayor of Eunpyeong District, remarked, “Bulkwangcheon is a source of energy and a resting place for residents,” and pledged to maintain it so that residents can enjoy it happily.
