The Dongdaemun District in Seoul, under the leadership of District Chief Lee Pil-hyung, officially launched the ‘Dongdaemun A01’ autonomous bus route, hosting a ceremony in front of the district office on the 13th of this month.
The opening ceremony featured the introduction of key guests, a promotional video for the autonomous bus, a congratulatory performance by a fusion traditional music group, a tape-cutting and unveiling ceremony, and a commemorative photo session followed by a demonstration ride.
The ‘Dongdaemun A01’ began its official operation on the 14th at 9 AM, running a route from Janghanpyeong Station through Jeonnong Intersection, Cheongnyangni Station, Sejong the Great Memorial Hall, ending at Kyung Hee University Medical Center. The route spans a 15 km round trip with a total of 23 stops.
The buses operate six times daily on weekdays (Monday to Friday), with the first bus departing at 9 AM and the last bus arriving at the terminal at 6:15 PM. There is a gap in service during the midday meal break at 12:45 PM when the buses do not run.
District Chief Lee Pil-hyung stated, “The launch of the autonomous bus marks a new milestone for transportation in the northeastern area and is a significant step towards becoming a futuristic city. We will continue to innovate so that residents can use safe and convenient transportation services.”
