The Seoul Dobong Senior Welfare Center announced its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management policy on April 16. This declaration is an official statement highlighting the center’s commitment to sustainable management.
The welfare center has established an ESG policy focused on climate crisis response and strengthening social responsibility, with the aim of promoting a welfare model that positively impacts the local community and stakeholders.
To develop the policy, an internal task force (TF) was formed with the participation of staff members. Study groups were organized to discuss social changes and ways to realize values. After several months of internal discussions, the final policy was confirmed.
The Dobong Senior Welfare Center has been consistently operated based on ethical management since its declaration in 2010. The new ESG policy expands upon the existing ethical management framework to enhance social value.
The welfare center plans to carry out promotional activities to inform the local community about its ESG management content. It will create an ESG promotion group led by senior citizens to establish user practice guidelines. Collaboration with related local institutions is also envisaged.

Eun-joo Lee, Director of the Seoul Dobong Senior Welfare Center, stated, “We will continue to fulfill our responsibilities to the local community by expanding from ethical management to ESG management.” She further emphasized, “We will strengthen our role as a welfare institution responding to climate crisis and issues of social vulnerability.”
The Dobong Senior Welfare Center was established by the Seoul City and is operated by the Milal Welfare Foundation. It is open to any Seoul citizen over the age of 60, and approximately 1,200 people visit every day. The center provides comprehensive welfare services including emergency support, leisure, lifelong education, health management, employment assistance, and care services.
With the announcement of this ESG policy, the welfare center has set a new precedent for age-friendly welfare practices. It is evaluated that a foundation has been laid for the spread of community-centered ESG practices.
