The area of Banghak-dong 638 in Dobong-gu, Seoul has been selected as a candidate site for rapid integrated planning housing redevelopment.

The city of Seoul announced on the 2nd that during the 4th redevelopment candidate site selection committee meeting held on August 27, Banghak-dong 638 was designated as a candidate site.

The newly designated candidate site, Banghak-dong 638, covers an area of approximately 39,270 square meters. It borders Dodang-ro to the south, Sirubong-ro to the north, an approved Moa Town project site to the west, and another rapid integrated planning candidate site selected in June to the east.

Dobong-gu hopes that the selection of this candidate site will improve the residential environment in the Banghak-dong area. Dobong-gu’s mayor, Oh Eon-seok, stated, “The Banghak-dong 638 area has excellent natural scenery with the backdrop of Dobong Mountain to the north,” and expressed his intention to create an eco-friendly premium residential complex harmonized with nature.

The residents of Banghak-dong 638 applied for the rapid integrated planning candidate site in 2021 and 2022 but were not selected due to height restrictions for high-rise developments adjacent to Dobong Mountain. However, after height restrictions were eased around Dobong Mountain in June last year, they reapplied in July this year and were finally designated as a candidate site. During this reapplication process, the resident approval rate was 53%.

Mayor Oh stated, “We will proceed with establishing a housing redevelopment maintenance plan and designating a maintenance area,” and emphasized the provision of administrative support to ensure smooth project execution.
