The Seoul Dobong District announced on the 26th that it will conduct the “Carbon Empathy Mileage Energy Saving Event” during the high electricity consumption months of June and July. This event is designed to encourage residents to voluntarily practice energy saving during the summer when air conditioning usage increases.
Participants can earn between 50 to 500 mileage points per action by implementing summer practices suggested by the Carbon Empathy Mileage app. The three key actions are maintaining indoor temperatures above 26°C, unplugging unused electronic devices or switching off power strips, and cleaning air conditioner filters.
Details and participation methods for the event can be found in the announcements section of the Carbon Empathy Mileage app.
Since April 2023, Dobong-gu has been operating the Carbon Empathy Mileage system, awarding mileage points based on residents’ carbon-neutral practices. Over 11,000 local residents have joined, with the system logging more than 4.1 million visits and over 2.8 million practice records to date.
Oh Eun-seok, the mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, “Small actions can lead to significant changes. We hope that Dobong-gu will become a healthier carbon-neutral city through your voluntary energy-saving efforts.”
