From May 29 to July 31, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Copyright Commission announced the ‘Open Ground AI Source Data Utilization Contest’. The goal of this contest is to develop AI-based services that can be realized based on the source data provided by the Open Ground.

Any citizen of South Korea can freely participate as an individual or team, and detailed application guidelines can be found on the dedicated website.

Submitted entries will undergo an initial expert screening for selection, and mentoring and pitching lectures will be provided to the selected participants. In the subsequent second screening, the final winners will be determined. The total prize money is 7 million won, with the grand prize winner receiving the chairman’s award along with 3 million won.

The grand prize-winning work will also be given the qualification to advance to the finals of the ‘National Public Data Utilization Startup Competition’ organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety next year.

Chairman Kang Seok-won of the Korea Copyright Commission expressed, “We hope that ideas leveraging AI source data will be turned into actual services,” and added, “We will continue to support the diverse utilization of data provided by the Open Ground.”
