BC Card is collaborating with the global AI search engine company Perplexity to develop and expand an AI search engine service tailored to the domestic consumer market. On the 20th, BC Card announced that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Perplexity for the ‘advancement of domestic AI services.’
At the signing ceremony held on the 19th at the BC Card headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, key figures such as Jo Myung-sik, BC Card Senior Executive (head of BC.AI division), and June Morita, Vice President of Perplexity attended. Through this agreement, both companies plan to jointly promote the development of consumer-tailored services using AI technology and explore ways to link AI-based search services with payment systems.
Perplexity is known for its strong point of being a generative AI-based conversational search engine that clearly provides sources of answers while showcasing results from multiple AI models simultaneously through its ‘All-in-One AI Tool’ feature. It also supports an in-depth research function to help users obtain more accurate and reliable information.
Under this agreement, BC Card plans to promote comprehensive cooperation in various fields including △joint promotions targeting customers of both companies △discovery of new AI-based services (such as integrating consumer lifestyle-related AI content within BC Card Paybook using Perplexity API) △cooperation in the payment sector when Perplexity enters the domestic consumer market.

Jo Myung-sik, BC Card Senior Executive (head of BC.AI division) stated, “It is meaningful to partner with Perplexity, a leader in the industry,” adding, “Through this agreement, we will provide BC Card customers with innovative AI services in the payment-consumer lifestyle domain.”
June Morita, Vice President of Perplexity, mentioned, “The collaboration between BC Card and Perplexity marks the first partnership in the payment/card sector in Korea and will serve as a bridge connecting financial services with advanced AI technology,” and anticipated, “The innovative services combining finance and AI will naturally permeate consumers’ daily lives, contributing to offering personalized services.”
BC Card is the first domestic financial company to possess all five government-approved data business licenses, and it has been leading the enhancement of domestic AI competitiveness by publicly releasing over 1.8 million cases of financial language data for AI development specialized in finance without charge. It is also continuously striving to comply with financial regulations through applications for innovative financial services and to provide prompt and innovative AI-based financial services.
Through this cooperation, BC Card and Perplexity are expected to innovate payment and consumer lifestyles using AI technology and provide a new customer experience through the combination of finance and AI.
