The Korea Forest Service announced on the 28th that the average income of forest households nationwide for 2024 was 38.41 million won, an increase of 2.7% compared to the previous year.

The main factors for the increase in forest household income were analyzed to be the increase in transfer income, which includes sales revenue from forest products, labor income, non-forestry income such as capital income, and forestry subsidies.

The average assets of forest households were about 560.14 million won, which was a 2.7% increase from last year. Forest household debt was about 30 million won, with debts unrelated to forestry and forestry-related debts both increasing by 3.8% compared to the previous year.

This survey is the result of a regular survey conducted by the Korea Forest Service on major economic indicators such as income and expenditure of forest households nationwide.

The results of the forest household economic survey can be checked or downloaded on the Korea Forest Service website.

Ha Ji-soo, the head of the Forest Big Data Team at the Korea Forest Service, said, “The increase in sales revenue from short-term income forest product cultivation has been identified as a contributing factor to the increase in forest household income,” and added, “Based on accurate statistical surveys, we will expand policy support to contribute to the management activities and income increase of foresters.”
