AMD unveiled its new high-performance computer central processing unit (CPU), the “Ryzen Threadripper 9000 Series,” at the international IT exhibition “Computex 2025” held in Taipei, Taiwan, on the 20th (local time). This product is optimized for professional CPU use in tasks requiring complex and intensive calculations, such as movie production, 3D modeling, and artificial intelligence (AI) development.

The highest-performing model, the “Ryzen Threadripper Pro 9995WX,” is equipped with 96 processing cores and 192 processing threads on a single chip. Cores and threads refer to the number of tasks a computer can process simultaneously, with more enabling faster processing of more tasks.

The 9995WX has a base operating speed of 2.5GHz and can reach speeds of up to 5.4GHz. It incorporates a total of 480MB of fast cache memory. The memory speed reaches approximately 409GB per second and supports the latest memory standard, DDR5, across eight channels. Additionally, it features 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes for rapid data exchange with peripheral devices.

The CPUs announced are based on AMD’s newly developed “Zen 5” technology, which enhances overall performance through more precise predictions, faster calculation processing, and improved data transmission speeds. AMD claims this technology has enabled an average computation speed increase of over 16%.

The Threadripper 9000 series is divided into two types: a high-performance desktop (HEDT) model for general users, supporting up to 64 cores, and a Pro model for enterprise professional equipment, supporting up to 96 cores. Both models are built on the same design foundation, but the Pro model offers more memory and connectivity features, along with additional security and management functions.

AMD stated that its new product significantly outperforms the latest CPUs from competitor Intel, particularly in multi-core operations, processing multiple tasks simultaneously, achieving speeds up to 2.2 times faster than Intel’s top model.

The Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series is set to be released worldwide in July 2025. Consumers can purchase it as parts for assembly, and it will also be featured in workstation products manufactured by global PC manufacturers such as Dell, HP, and Lenovo.
