The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with the Korea Creative Content Agency, has allocated an additional 16.5 billion KRW in the first supplementary budget of 2025 to support content creation utilizing artificial intelligence technology. The application period is from May 22 to June 9, targeting companies, universities, and public institutions.
This initiative follows the selection of 17 projects with the original budget and is being pursued further to cater to the high demand from companies and creators. A total of 54 projects will be selected, divided into 36 projects for ‘AI content demonstration production’ and 18 projects for ‘AI video production’.
The ‘demonstration production’ category focuses on projects that integrate AI technology into the content industry. It aims at global market entry and selects 10 ‘pioneer’ projects, 18 ‘entry’ projects for early-stage companies, and 8 ‘collaboration’ projects for cooperation between large and small-medium enterprises. The support amount per project ranges from 200 million to 700 million KRW, depending on the type.
The ‘video production’ category supports the development of AI video content such as films and animations. It selects 8 feature films and 10 short films, with a maximum support of 200 million KRW for feature films and 20 million KRW for short films. In addition to production costs, the program also provides full support for technical training and legal advice.
Applications can be submitted on the Korea Creative Content Agency website, and the selection results will be announced at the end of June following evaluation.
The Ministry plans to collaborate with the Korean Film Council to conduct AI film workshops, screenings, and promotion support.
Yong Ho-seong, the first Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, “AI technology is at the center of innovation in the content industry, and we will spare no support to enhance industry competitiveness.”
