The Yeongwol National Forest Management Office (Director Oh Tae-bong) announced on the 12th that, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, it has urgently provided 8㎥ (5 tons) of firewood to four vulnerable households experiencing difficulties with heating due to the cold wave.

This support is part of the Forest Service’s annual “Sharing Love’s Firewood” event, utilizing leftover wood from forestry operations that cannot be commercially utilized. The wood is directly delivered to households in need of heating, based on recommendations from local governments.

Over the past five years, the Yeongwol National Forest Management Office has provided a total of 193㎥ (approximately 154 tons) of firewood to 62 households in the region. This year, the support will continue for households facing heavy heating burdens due to high oil prices until the cold resolves.

The office also provides reprocessing containers and safe usage instructions to prevent fire hazards from careless use of wood boilers.

Director Oh Tae-bong stated, “We hope that the sharing of Love’s Firewood, promoted as part of providing forest welfare, will bring warm energy to vulnerable households ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.”
