The era of coding through conversation

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is fundamentally changing the way software is developed. Now, a complex program can be completed simply by instructing it with a command like “create a website,” without needing to write the code yourself. This trend, known as “Vibe Coding,” is moving beyond the experimental stage for individual developers and is now extensively expanding into the corporate sector.

On December 4th (local time), U.S.-based AI coding platform Replit announced it has entered into a new multi-year strategic partnership with Google Cloud. Through this collaboration, the two companies aim to strengthen AI model integration, cloud infrastructure expansion, and support for enterprise-level Vibe Coding technologies.

Transformation into a Google Gemini-based platform

Through this agreement, Replit will now support Google’s latest generative AI models, Gemini 3, Gemini 2.5 Flash, Flash Lite, and the image generation model Imagen 4. These models will be used not only for coding but also in multimodal tasks involving text, image, and voice, significantly expanding Replit’s platform capabilities.

Additionally, Replit will utilize Google Cloud’s core infrastructure services like Cloud Run, Kubernetes Engine, and BigQuery to stably manage large-scale projects and increase processing speed. The agreement also includes a co-sell program and integration with the Google Cloud Marketplace, enabling enterprise clients to simultaneously utilize services from both companies through an integrated approach.

“Setting a new standard for enterprise AI development environments”

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, stated, “This collaboration will serve as an opportunity to more deeply connect Google’s AI and cloud capabilities with Replit’s users, thereby supporting enterprises in maximizing development efficiency through AI coding.”

Amjad Masad, co-founder and CEO of Replit, expressed, “Our goal at Replit is to support the next billion software creators,” and noted that the adoption of AI coding by Fortune 1000 companies is rapidly increasing.

He added, “Through this partnership with Google, the integration of infrastructure and AI models will accelerate, leading to a more efficient evolution of enterprise development environments overall.” Replit has already received positive feedback for applying Gemini 3 to its “Design Mode,” allowing users to design app architectures and modify codes through conversations, which enables even non-experts to participate in the development process.

The AI coding market: a new battleground attracting large capital

Despite being established less than 10 years ago, Replit is experiencing rapid growth. The company’s annual revenue surged from $2.8 million to $150 million in just one year, and in a funding round last September, its corporate value was estimated at approximately $3 billion (around 4 trillion KRW).

According to market research firm Ramp, Replit is currently recording the fastest customer growth rate among global software companies. The AI coding market is now the primary competitive arena for big tech companies. Anthropic is generating annual sales of $1 billion with its “Claude Code,” and Cursor, an AI development tool company, has a corporate value of 29.3 billion dollars.

Through collaboration with Replit, Google aims to expand the application scope of the Gemini models and strengthen its position within the AI and cloud ecosystem in the Vibe Coding market. Alphabet’s stock price increased by more than 12% after the release of Gemini 3, indicating that improved AI model performance is translating into real market value.

Development in collaboration with AI: the new standard

The partnership between Replit and Google is expected to transform AI coding from a tool for individual developers into a core development infrastructure for enterprises. The two companies intend to further integrate Google’s AI capabilities into the Replit platform, creating an environment where enterprise development teams can design and test complex systems interactively.

Industry experts have analyzed that “this collaboration will greatly enhance the accessibility of AI coding,” and predicted that “enterprises will be able to develop products more quickly and enhance their market responsiveness.” AI coding is no longer just a technology of the future; it is now a core element of enterprise competitiveness.
